3 Tips to styling wedding veils

We get it: for most brides, it’s their first time in a wedding dress and you have no idea where to even begin! As a bridal stylist, our job is to help you envision your complete look on your wedding day: from suggesting the type of earrings to the length of your wedding veil. Here are 3 tips that we have when styling your veil (that is, if you decide to wear one which we think you should!)

Tip #1: Modernize it! Gone are days of your grandma’s puffy veils (where you could hardly see any hair). To modernize the look, simply drop the veil to the bottom of your head rather than having it up high. This will instantly elevate the overall look and it will still feel very bridal.

Tip #2: Design offset: You don’t want too much going on all at the same time. If your dress is very embellished, go with a simple plain veil. On the other hand, if your dress is very simple (i.e. a plain satin white dress), add a veil with some pearls, beadings or 3D florals.

Tip #3: It’s all about balance! If your dress is has a long train that gives you volume at the bottom, consider adding more volume at the top with a double layer veil to balance the overall silhouette (as a side note: a double layer veil is perfect for wedding portraits!).
